Meet Paul & Angela Wheelton
In the early 2000s, Life Education came to Surrey Hills Primary School
Paul was amazed when his children came home to tell him about what they had learnt on that day from a giraffe called Harold who lived in a caravan with stars on the ceiling. It was the only time during the year that his children had spoken about what they had learnt on this particular day. Following on from this we were keen to try and understand more about this program and style of teaching.
At a time when society and government had virtually given up on drug and alcohol education and turned totally to a harm minimisation agenda. Life Education appeared to be the only program that stopped children jumping off the cliff. Les Twentyman often says his organisation is one of many at the bottom of the cliff cleaning up the mess. He goes further to say that Life Education is leading the charge to keep them away from that cliff. Acquiring vital skills and tools to build a sustainable, successful and prosperous life. As leaders, we strive to instill the passion of education and learning to give others the confidence and courage to embrace their dreams and turn them into reality.
Paul and Angela recently retired from the corporate sector. They spend their time within Wheelton Philanthropy and have made Life Education one of their 3 pillars that include Education, Health with a focus Women & Girls. Much of this work is directed towards the smaller Melbourne based charities that operate at the coal face.

Meet Tony Re
A supporter of Life Education Victoria for over 25 years
Nationwide Towing & Transport are Australia's most trusted provider of safe towing and transport services. They have grown to be the largest provider of specialist towing and transport, emergency roadside assistance, storage and auctions in Australia.
Tony Re has been the Managing Director of Nationwide Towing & Transport for 35 years and has supported Life Education Victoria for over 25 years. Tony has been a big believer in Life Education Victoria's mission and Nationwide's service has been extremely essential to the Healthy Harold program. Without Tony and his team at Nationwide, we would not be able to transport our Mobile Learning Centres (vans) across Victoria.
When Life Education Victoria first approached Nationwide, Tony himself went out to visit a local van in Templestowe to figure out if this was something their company could actually do. Even though these vans proposed difficult and different tasks, they figured it out and began to tow these vans locally within Melbourne. After a few years, Life Education Victoria grew and grew and the task of getting these vans to more and more schools across Victoria became a bigger task than they originally thought for a small local business. However, Tony and the team happily accepted and persisted the challenge by towing these vans early in the morning and late at night to get them to remote schools so they could witness the excitement on the students' faces when they arrived with Harold, this was extremely rewarding for the team.
"I love supporting them and I can't tell you how much of a great cause it is and I am humbled by the recognition"
As well as ensuring the Mobile Learning Centres are delivered to each school safely and efficiently, Tony has also attended many of the Life Education Victoria fundraising galas, where he continues to further support the program.
On behalf of Life Education Victoria, we want to give a massive thank you to Tony and the entire team at Nationwide Towing & Transport

Meet the team at Isuzu
Driving the growth of the future generation
There is nothing quite as important as the future and well-being of our children. But every day, children in Australia and all around the world face perennial issues that impact their health and safety. And the decisions children have to make around relationships and health to navigate their daily life shape their future and, as a result, the future of our society.
As part of Isuzu Australia Limited’s (IAL) ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and helping to empower the next Australian generation, 2018 sees IAL celebrate yet another year in its long-standing partnership with Life Education Victoria, a community-based, independent organisation at the front line of positive and preventative drug and health education.
Over the last five years, IAL has been a sponsor of Life Education Victoria and has also donated trucks to transport the Life Education team and the mobile learning classrooms.
IAL Director and Chief Operating Officer Andrew Harbison said, “We are honoured to be a long-term partner of Life Education, which has over the decades helped millions of Australian children make better decisions and lead better lives. The organisation is a genuine investment in our future generations, and we are proud to give back to such an important cause.”
The donated Isuzu trucks not only enable Life Education Victoria’s team and their mascot, Healthy Harold, to travel to preschools, and primary and secondary schools—the trucks transport the organisation’s immersive mobile classrooms, fitted with tech like TAM (Transparent Anatomical Mannequin), promoting interactive learning in which education programs are conducted.
IAL National Sales Manager Les Spaltman added, “Life Education gives us an exciting opportunity to contribute to an empowering cause that shapes the next generation of Australia.” “We are delighted with Isuzu’s generous support, which is vital to our operations in terms of taking our mobile learning classrooms around Victoria,” said Andrew Bennetto, Chief Executive Officer of Life Education Victoria.
“We have 35 amazing educators that go around Victoria in these mobile learning classrooms, seeing over 150,000 children across rural, regional and metropolitan Victoria, so Isuzu’s contribution is really important to our endeavours.” IAL National Sales Manager Les Spaltman added, “Life Education gives us an exciting opportunity to contribute to an empowering cause that shapes the next generation of Australia.”
